Artologue will be on yet another long trip in next few months. The plans are in the process but in the meanwhile we want to share something else with you all.

Of course it is about art and the process of art. Artists do not work in void, they are also part and parcel of this mortal world and so their art gets affected by it.

Before Meeankshi decided to paint professionally, she used to create small art pieces for Jey (that’s me). She gifted me a huge Madhubani painting in 2005. It was intricate, traditional Dashavatar (ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu according to Hindu Mythology).

Later when we started our life together, she used to design her own and my clothes and painted my T-shirts other than her Art History classes besides all other chores.

Those T-shirts were unique and it defied the usual notion of T-shirt design. We mixed Egyptian Pharoahs, Harrappan Relics and Greek motiffs in the t-shirt but with a twist. These symbols, motiffs and designs were drawn with a Madhubani touch.

(Madhubani paintings are traditional paintings of Mithila region in Bihar which is done on paper with a nib and colors).

In last few years I have’nt got any T-shirts painted as Meenakshi moved from Madhubani to contemporary, modern figurative art and to installations.

Meenakshi drew it for herself on her Kurta

She is reluctant to share pictures of those paintings on-line but I pursued her to share these T-shirts which even you can order if you like them.

For me these T-shirts are token of love which I am sharing with the community of Artologue.

Also many people on social media wanted to know whether Meenakshi does only murals, so this blog will end their query as well.

For me Meenakshi is neither a painter nor a sculptor or designer. She is an artist and she does it all.

As far as I am concerned, I am just growing up with an Artist.
